2022 Richmond Heritage Award

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is honoured to be a recipient of a 2022 Richmond Heritage Award. This award is in recognition of Fish Tales, a community based storytelling project in partnership with The Initiative for Student Teaching and Research in Chinese Canadian Studies (INSTRCC) at UBC.

Fish Tales aims to ask #whatsyourfishtale and create a framework to assist the Cannery in offering a community-based and community-oriented mode of gathering stories and sharing histories. This April, it was announced that University of British Columbia‘s CUES (Community-University Engagement Support Fund) will be providing funding for the project. To read more about the partnership and funding opportunity, visit UBC’s website.

We would like to thank the Richmond Heritage Commission for this privilege, and the hardworking INSTRCC team for making this project possible.
