Remembering Dave Koyanagi

We were saddened to hear about the sudden passing of our dedicated volunteer and friend Dave Koyanagi.

Dave joined the Cannery Crew in 2018. His vast experience with major events (including the Olympics!) made him a reliable and responsible gallery attendant tasked with keeping both our exhibits and guests safe, even during our busiest day of the year – Canada Day, during the Steveston Salmon Festival.

Soon after, Dave began training to lead tours of the Cannery, and was officially guiding tours on a weekly basis by summer 2019.

We remember Dave for his acute attention to detail; many a display, tour script, exhibit item, and electronic device were updated or repaired upon his recommendation. Thank you Dave, for caring so much about the Cannery and our stories to help make a difference.

You will be missed by many.
