Playing Along with the Halifax Wharf Rats

Submitted by Heritage Interpreter Antonia L.

The toe tapping and clapping on the Cannery’s Tank Desk last Friday evening was so abundant that the fish down in the Fraser likely felt the good times being had at Music at the Cannery. Music-goers could hardly sit still as the Halifax Wharf Rats played a combination of Celtic, Maritime, and classic rock. The high-energy clapping of the crowd became the beat of a song that the band played over. Lead female vocalist and keyboardist Michelle Carlisle’s voice melded with her bandmates Brian Flanagan, Brendan Mooney, and Allan Dionne; producing a truly flawless night of music. As the last melody faded out into the evening, folks left with a happy heart and great anticipation for the next concert.

Our concert series continues Friday July 29th with Rock Line, a father-son duo that pays homage to the best of British Rock. Music at the Cannery features a local musical act every Friday night from July 12 to August 30 at 6:30pm (doors open at 6pm). Concerts are held rain or shine; outdoors weather permitting or indoors if rain. Tickets are $7 each at the door. For more information, call the Cannery at 604.664.9009.
