Fisherman’s Memorial – National Day of Mourning

Today, we remember workers who have died, were injured, or became ill from their job on National Day of Mourning. At noon, the community of Steveston gathers at the Fishermen’s Memorial in Garry Point Park. As we remember the fishermen who lost their lives doing their jobs, one can pause to read their names engraved on the Memorial. Today, we pay our respects by laying a wreath in their honour, and keep those we have lost in our thoughts.
