Calling all selfie lovers: this year, in celebration of Canada Historic Places Day, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is participating in a summer-long selfie contest running from July 4th to 31st! Canada Historic Places Day celebrates the diverse histories of this nation from coast to coast, and this year, the celebration is extended all summer long.

Join us in honouring the importance of Canada’s West Coast fishing industry and show off your fintastic selfie skills in this fun and easy contest. Now that our site has re-opened, you can visit our site to take a photo, or visit us virtually and take a digital selfie via historicplacesday.ca. To take your digital selfie, choose Gulf of Georgia Cannery NHS on the online “Places” page and select which digital background you would like featured in your photo. To enter, simply post your selfie to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, using the hashtag #historicplacesday, then tag us at @GOGCannery, and finally tag and follow @nationaltrustca. Once entered, your selfie will be placed in a random draw to win $1000 for you as well as $1000 for the site you tagged.
