Brought to Life by Blues – Harpdog Brown Quartet
Submitted by Heritage Interpreter Antonia L.
Last Friday, Music at the Cannery had the old cedar beams shaking with the good vibrations of the Harpdog Brown Quartet. Held inside of the museum for a change of scenery, the 125-year-old building was brought to life again by the soulful blues sang by lead vocalist and award winning harmonica player, Harpdog Brown (yes, that’s his real name!). The smooth, gravel tones of Harpdog were joined by his bandmates Dave Webb on the piano, Steve Taylor on the drums, and newest member Skye Lambourne. The phenomenal playing of the band earned them a sold-out show followed by a standing ovation.
We’ll be back Friday, August 9th with more blues, courtesy of Steve Kozak Band. Music at the Cannery features a local musical act every Friday night from July 12 to August 30 at 6:30pm (doors open at 6pm). Concerts are rain or shine, outdoors weather permitting or indoors. Tickets are $7 each at the door ($5 for kids 7-17). For more information, call the Cannery at 604.664.9009.
