An evening of Celtic tunes with the Irish Wakers

Music at the Cannery resumed this past Friday August 10 with a performance by the Irish Wakers, playing a variety of Celtic songs and fiddle music.  The lively music had many in the crowd toe-tapping as they enjoyed the sounds of instruments like the Irish flute, bodhran and violin in addition to vocals from band members Blake Williams and Brian Robertson.  There were also several pieces centered around the fiddle, played by 2018 BC Open Fiddle Champion Michael Burnyeat.  The Cannery Tank Deck was once more filled to capacity with happy music-goers, and a number of people in Fisherman’s Park were found to be listening to the Wakers during what was yet another wonderful night for music.
